Finding a balance between work, exercise and a social life can be difficult. I know I have struggled so many times with deciding between happy hour after work, spending time with family, or working out. I hated skipping out on stuff but I couldn’t make room in my day for everything. I felt like I couldn’t change my schedule. Now, a year into post-grad life I have found my version of balance.

My key to finding balance between having a social life and staying fit is looking for classes or an exercise regimen that fits my busy schedule.  EnergyX has a wide range of class times; starting at 5:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. there is plenty of room in between to suit everyone. I try my best to work out 3-4 times a week at the studio. My favorite classes to attend are LIT HIIT and TRX & Flex (if you need recommendations). Both classes are at 6:45 p.m. and work perfectly for the after-work crowd. BUT I can’t always make those classes. Happy hours, birthday celebrations, or work events normally happen in the evening and throw off my schedule.

When I have a work event in the evening or want to spend time with friends, I schedule a workout in the morning instead of my regular post-work, workout. I know waking up early in the morning sounds awful but getting the workout done in the morning is a great way to start your day. EnergyX Fitness normally offers two early morning class times. The 5:45 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. classes give me enough time to get my sweat on, go home, shower, eat breakfast, and make it to work on time.  To plan your next work out at EnergyX check out their class schedule here.

My schedule never stays the same and I do not always stick to my 3-4 work outs a week but I always know that my EnergyX fam will be there to encourage me and keep me on track, that’s what matters most.
